Who's as fast on his feet as Sonic the Hedgehog, as slender as a cobweb and as fashionably attired as MC Hammer? Fancy Pants Man, that's who.

Fancy Pants Adventure 2 is a run-and-jumper of surreal yet intuitive brilliance. One morning in Squiggly Land, some dastardly rabbit nabs Fancy Pants Man's ice-cream while he's out playing snail golf. After a good hearty fist-shaking, our hero sets off through the story mode's six worlds (a further six can be unlocked) to reclaim his dessert.

When a game's menu screen is a platforming level in its own right, you know you're onto something hot. Use the left and right arrow keys to run, down arrow key to crouch or slide and S to jump. Wall jumps are executed by tapping S on impact.

Fancy Pants Man can move at a terrific pace, and many of the challenges hinge on building momentum. Just watch you don't sprint face-first into one of the spiders, pistol-equipped mice and other do-badders who haunt the road ahead.

Brad Borne's superb line characters and sketchpad backdrops recall the mighty Use Boxmen, but Fancy Pants Adventure 2 is a hell of a lot quicker. For something rather more calculating, fire up Tempus Terminus.
